Tonex One Brown Sound is a limited-edition pedal that lets you recreate the legendary tone known for its warmth, dynamics, and distinction — the so-called Brown Sound — directly on your pedalboard. Utilizing capture and AI Machine Modeling technology, this pedal delivers classic guitar tones from some of the most iconic albums in rock history.

In the late 1970s, a young guitarist changed rock music forever when he walked into Sunset Sound Studios in 1978 and created what became known as the "Brown Sound" — a tone that has inspired generations of guitarists around the world.

In close collaboration with Jim Gaustad (a leading expert on the Brown Sound), IK Multimedia has developed a complete and exclusive collection of Brown Sound captures for Tonex, Tonex Pedal, and Tonex One: the Brown Sound Signature Collections. Tonex One comes preloaded with 20 Tone Model captures from this unique collection.

This collection is divided into three different eras of the "Flying Dutchman's" golden age:

• Brown Sound 78/79 captures the first two albums.
• Brown Sound 80/81 refers to the two albums released in 1980 and 1981, characterized by a harder and more direct tone.
• Brown Sound 82/84 features tones from the final two albums of that era, the latter of which became the band’s biggest commercial success.

Each of these packs contains 50 Tone Model captures, created with meticulous attention to detail — from the amp and speaker to mic placement and even voltage control for tone shaping. No aspect was overlooked in crafting these authentic Brown Sound captures.

The Tonex Brown Sound Limited Edition includes 20 of these legendary tones in an ultra-compact pedal — ready for stage, studio, or home use. Every pedal in the Brown Sound series comes with Tonex software and the Brown Sound 78/79 pack, and you can also download one additional pack for free — either Brown Sound 80/81 or Brown Sound 82/84. Using the included Tonex software, you can choose which 20 Tone Models to load into your pedal.

In addition to amp tones, Tonex One Brown Sound features an advanced effects section with EQ, delay, modulation effects, reverb, and noise gate — plus a built-in tuner. With two user modes — Stomp Mode and Dual Mode — you can either toggle a preset on/off like a standard effects pedal or switch between two presets (e.g., rhythm and lead).

The combined mono/stereo output (TRS) allows you to connect the Tonex pedal to a single amp in mono or to two amps or a mixer in stereo using a TRS cable. You can even plug headphones directly into the Tonex One. A USB-C connection enables editing and managing your internal and external Tone Model captures via the Tonex software and Editor.

The pedal can also function as an audio interface for direct recording. Through the software, you can access Tone.Net, a user platform with over 50,000 captures — from pristine vintage tones to aggressive metal sounds, with or without speaker simulation. There are also Tone Models for distortion, overdrive, and boost pedals, as well as many bass amps. As a bonus, AmpliTube 5 SE is included.
